Water through, leaves out
Every guard here does one job: rain keeps going into the gutter and leaf litter, twigs and roof grit stay on top. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why mesh size matters more than any other number on the page.
Gutter Guards Company sells gutter protection direct: aluminium mesh by the metre, plastic mesh on a roll, brush lengths that push in by hand, and the stainless guards for the downpipe outlet that actually blocks. All of it fitted by you, with hand tools.
Aluminium mesh, plastic mesh, bristle brush and the downpipe guards, plus the ladder, scoop, sleeves and gloves that make the job a morning rather than an ordeal.
Every guard here does one job: rain keeps going into the gutter and leaf litter, twigs and roof grit stay on top. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why mesh size matters more than any other number on the page.
The aluminium mesh is sold by the metre with no minimum, so a nine metre run costs nine metres. The plastic mesh comes on a six metre roll and the brush in four metre lengths.
Aluminium cuts with tin snips, plastic mesh cuts with scissors, the brush pushes in and the downpipe guards drop in by hand. Nothing here needs a trade, which is the point.
A gutter usually overflows because the downpipe outlet is packed, not because the channel is. The stainless domes cover the one part of the system you cannot see from the ground.
Aluminium where you want something that will not rust or burn. Plastic mesh where the run curves. Brush where the gutter has a sag in it and nothing rigid will sit flat.
A telescopic ladder that stores in a cupboard, a scoop and pole to clear the gutter first, level 5 cut resistant sleeves and cowhide gloves for the cut mesh edge.
The same result in whichever form suits your gutter, your roof and your budget.

It is a filter over an open channel. Rain passes through it and everything solid stops on top, where the wind and the next shower take most of it away. What is left is lifted off in one piece rather than scooped out of a full gutter.
Aluminium mesh is the one to fit if you want it done properly and left alone: it will not rust, it will not burn, and the 3.5 mm by 2 mm holes hold back roof grit as well as leaves. It wants tin snips and a bit of patience over a long run.
Plastic mesh is faster and cheaper and cuts with scissors. It is the right answer over a bay, round a corner, or on a conservatory edge where a stiffer sheet will not sit flat. It is a polymer, so it is not a fire product and we do not sell it as one.
The brush is the one for a gutter that is no longer the shape it was: an old cast iron run, a visible sag, a profile a previous repair has changed. You push four metres in and the job is done, with nothing cut and nothing fixed.
The downpipe guards are not an alternative to any of those. They are the other half of the job, and they are the half most people skip.
Measure the gutter, not the wall. A gutter usually runs past the corner and round a bay, and the wall measurement is always short. For the aluminium mesh, order that many metres. For the plastic, six metres is roughly one elevation of a terrace or semi.
Clear the gutter first, then flush the downpipe, then fit the guard. Doing it in the other order means lifting a guard you have just put on. The gutter scoop and pole on this site is for exactly that first step.
For mesh, cut to length, bend the front edge over the gutter lip and tuck the back edge under the first course of tiles. No fixings. For the brush, push and work it along. For the downpipe guards, press until the three buckles grip inside the pipe.
Gutter height is not high enough to frighten anyone, which is precisely why people fall off ladders at it. Set the ladder about one metre out for every four metres up, on firm level ground, and have someone foot it. Wear the gloves: a cut mesh edge is sharp.
If you are not sure which guard suits your gutter, or how many metres a run needs, ask before you buy. It is a short email and a good deal easier than sending metres back. You can reach us at theteam@customersupport.care.
